How this is worked out
Kalshi settles on the official daily climate report, which gives the high in whole °F. Hourly reports carry tenths of a °C, so they pin down one exact °F. The 5-minute readings only carry whole °C, which fits a range such as 89–90°F, so the high so far is shown as the lowest value it can be and the highest the readings allow. A 6-hour maximum in an hourly report counts when its whole 6 hours fall inside today. The final report can still come in higher if the peak fell between readings.
